Roundabout

In light of future improvements to the land north and east of Mesa Middle School, Bella Mesa Metropolitan District is installing a roundabout at the intersection of Mikelson Blvd. and West Michell Street to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow. The Bella Mesa Metropolitan District has worked closely with the Town of Castle Rock on this project. Construction began in April 2024, with completion in the summer of 2024.

The Northbound Mitchell Street will be temporarily closed for this project, but access to Bella Mesa homes and Mesa Middle School remains available via East Michell Street, which also intersects Mikelson Blvd. approximately a quarter mile further east (this is about a one mile detour). The Bella Mesa Metropolitan District realizes this may be an inconvenience. However, the safety of all users, and in particular, neighborhood children going to school is by far most crucial to the District and the Town. A roundabout was selected as the best solution that prioritizes both pedestrian safety and traffic flow. The finished roundabout will have four full lanes (two each way) in all three directions.
